LESSON 7A WRITING | A note/short message
• In notes and short messages
Purpose → Notes and short messages are used to communicate quickly and efficiently.
1- Omitting Greetings and Polite Expressions:
- In brief notes, you can skip traditional greetings and closings to save space and time.
- Example: like Dear …, How are you?, Best wishes……etc.
2- Omitting Pronouns and Auxiliary Verbs:
- Start sentences directly with the main verb or phrase.
- Example: Instead of "I love you," write "Love you!"
3- Skipping the Verb “To Be” and the Definite Article:
- Drop "is," "are," and "the" for brevity.
- Example: Instead of "The plants are in the living room," write "Plants in living room."
4- Using Contractions, Initials, and Emoticons:
- Make messages more casual and concise.
- Example: "Get H to water plants." (H = Hamed)
"Dep 11:30" (Dep = Departure)
Emoticons: "I'm happy 😊" can be simply "Happy!"
5- Using Imperatives and Bullet Points for Instructions:
- Clear and direct commands are effective in notes.
- Example:
- Check bus/train times.
- Don’t water cactus.
