The letter c can be pronounced as /k/ or /s/. • It is pronounced /k/ when it is followed by a, o, u or a consonant (e.g. car, crash). • It is pronounced /s/ when it is followed by e, i or y (e.g. city). • It is also pronounced /k/ when it appears at the end of a word (e.g. athletic, Olympic).
