LESSON 6A SPEAKING

Start with an Apology Phrase

You might begin with statements of apology. Some typical phrases are:

• I’m sorry...
• I apologize...
• Please forgive me for...
• I regret...

For example:

- I’m sorry for being late to the meeting.

Apologizing to the Teacher:

If you apologize to the teacher for something like being late, not completing an assignment, or disrupting the class, it's important to be respectful and take responsibility.

Example: I’m really sorry for not finishing my homework on time.

Apologizing to Classmates:

If you've upset a classmate, interrupted a group project, or made a mistake during a discussion, an apology shows respect for your classmates.

Example: Hello, I regret disturbing you during the presentation.

Apologizing for Disrupting the Class:

If you've disrupted the learning environment (e.g., talking out of turn, making noise, or not following instructions), it's important to acknowledge your mistake.

Example: I’m really sorry for talking while you were giving instructions.
