• Start with the reporting verb.
• Use the correct WH word
• Change the word order.
• Change the verb tense.
Remember that the auxiliary verbs (DO, DOES, DID) are NOT USED in reported questions.
Example:
Direct speech: Mom: "Why did you forget your homework?"
Reported speech: Mom asked why I had forgotten my homework.
Questions with the verb to be and with can, may, might, could, will, etc

When changing commands or requests from direct speech into reported speech, we need to follow specific steps:
- Use the verb "tell" or "ask"
- No change in subject-verb order
- Use “to” with the verb
- If the sentence is negative (telling someone not to do something)
Structure:
Command: “Sit down.” → Reported: The teacher told us to sit down.
Command: "Finish your homework." → Reported: He told me to finish my homework.
Command: "Don’t talk in class." → Reported: The teacher told us not to talk in class.
