What is a prediction?
• A prediction is what someone thinks will happen in the future.
• We use will / may / might to make predictions about future.
► Will/won't
•Use
• We use will or won't to express future certainty.
Example :
Mum will be happy when she sees her car.
Form
• Affirmative:
Subject+ will + infinitive
It will be sunny tomorrow.
• Negative:
Subject+ won't + infinitive
It won't snow until December.
► May/might
• Use
• We use may or might to express future possibility.
Example :
We might go out on Friday night.
I may not come to the class tomorrow.
Form
• Affirmative:
Subject+ may/might + infinitive
Sara may come with us.
• Negative :
Subject+ may/might+not + infinitive
I might not go.
When we are / aren’t sure about our prediction, we use will/won’t + verb.
When we are / are not sure about our prediction, we use might, may or could or might not, may not + verb.
