How to write... fact files

To write a fact file for 6th grade, you should follow these simple guidelines based on the source:

  • Use headings with colons (:): Organize your information by using clear titles followed by a colon. For example, Name: or Habitat:
  • Research your topic: You can find the information you need by looking in books or searching online.
  • Keep it short: You do not need to write in full sentences. Fact files are meant to be quick to read, so using bullet points or short phrases is perfect.
  • Include interesting facts: Make your fact file more engaging by adding surprising or fun information about the animal.
  • Use abbreviations for measurements: When you are talking about the size or weight of an animal, use short forms like m (meters), cm (centimeters), or kg (kilograms).

  • Weight: 5,000 kg
  • Height: 3 m
  • Interesting Fact: They can swim very well!
