In this lesson, students learned how to use the Past Simple tense to talk about actions and events that started and finished in the past.
We use was/were with the verb to be and the base form of regular or irregular verbs for other actions. For example: It was funny, They weren’t scared, I left the room, We didn’t cry.
In questions, we use Did + base verb, such as Did he say anything? or What did they learn?
Common time expressions with the past simple include yesterday, last week, ago, in 2010, and when I was six.
The Past Simple helps describe completed actions, tell stories, and talk about past experiences.
