Palette	A flat board to mix paints	She mixed red and blue on the palette.
Attic	A small space under the roof of a house	There are boxes in the attic.
Dining room	A room where people eat their meals	We eat dinner in the dining room.

Grammar

1. Countable nouns

• Things you can count (1, 2, 3…).

• They have singular and plural forms.
  Examples:

• apple / apples

• book / books

• chair / chairs

2. Uncountable nouns

• Things you cannot count individually.

• They don’t have plural forms.
   Examples:

• water, sugar, milk, money, furniture

 

3. There is / There are

Affirmative:

• There is a book on the table. (singular)

• There is some water in the glass. (uncountable)

• There are two books on the table. (plural)

Negative:

• There isn’t a book on the table.

• There isn’t any milk in the fridge.

• There aren’t any students in the class.

Questions:

• Is there a book on the table?

• Is there any sugar?

• Are there any chairs in the room?

 

4. Some & Any

• Some → used in affirmative sentences

  • There are some apples.

  • There is some water.

• Any → used in negative sentences and questions

  • There aren’t any books.

  • Is there any milk?
