We use these special words when we are looking for clues to guess what an animal or a thing is!

1. When we are SURE (100%)

  • Must: Use this when you are very sure something is TRUE.
    • Example: It has spines. It must be a porcupine!.
  • Can’t: Use this when you are very sure something is NOT TRUE.
    • Example: It doesn't have wings. It can't be a bird.

2. When we are NOT SURE (50%)

  • May / Might / Could: Use these when you are making a guess but you aren't 100% certain.
    • Example: It might have fur, but I can't see it well.
    • Example: You may be right, let's look closer.
    • Example: It could be a bird because I hear singing.
