Present Simple
Form:
+) Subject + base verb → I play
-) Subject + do/does not + base verb → She doesn’t play
?) Do/Does + subject + base verb → Do you play?
Uses: habits, routines, facts, likes/dislikes, permanent states.
Time expressions: always, usually, often, sometimes, never, every day/week, on Sundays.
Present Continuous
Form:
+) Subject + am/is/are + verb+ing → I am playing
-) Subject + am/is/are + not + verb+ing → He isn’t playing
?) Am/Is/Are + subject + verb+ing → Are you playing?
Uses: actions happening now, temporary actions, changing situations.
Time expressions: now, at the moment, today, this week, this month.
Examples
Present Simple: I go to school every day.
Present Continuous: I am going to school now.
