Binomials are phrases where two words are joined with a conjunction, usually and or or (touch and go).
• The two words often begin with the same sound (slowly but surely).
• Sometimes they have a similar or opposite meaning (peace and quiet, highs and lows).
• The order of the words is fixed and needs to be learnt as part of the expression.

The words risk, chance, opportunity and luck have related meanings and are easily confused.
In particular, the word chance can be used in several different ways.
