Quantifiers – Summary
Quantifiers show amounts for countable and uncountable nouns:
a lot of → big amounts (countable & uncountable)
Example: I try to eat a lot of vegetables.
too many → more than needed (countable, negative)
Example: Don’t eat too many sweets.
too much → more than needed (uncountable, negative)
Example: There’s too much salt in this soup.
a few → small positive amount (countable)
Example: Can I have a few bananas?
a little → small positive amount (uncountable)
Example: Add a little olive oil to the sauce.
not many → small negative amount (countable)
Example: There are not many vegetarian dishes.
not much → small negative amount (uncountable)
Example: There’s not much carrot cake left.
