We're really good at saving cute animals, but we're ignoring a lot of other animals that need help too.
Think of it like this:
- Pandas are popular: Everyone loves pandas, so they get lots of money and attention to keep them safe.
- Blobfish are "ugly": Animals like the blobfish, which aren't considered cute, get almost no help, even though they're in danger.
- Most animals are small and unseen: There are tons of insects and other little creatures that are important, but nobody cares about them as much as pandas.
- Pangolins are hunted: People are hunting pangolins for their scales, but they're not getting enough protection.
- Aye-ayes are killed for being "scary": People kill aye-ayes because they look weird, even though they're harmless.
The lesson wants us to understand that all animals are important, not just the cute ones. We need to care about all kinds of animals, even if they don't look cuddly.
