1. Giving Opinions
We use these expressions when we want to say what we think about something.

Personally, I think … → used to give your personal opinion.

In my opinion, … → a formal way to express your opinion.
-
Personally, I don’t think … → used when your opinion is negative.
-
I’m sure that … → used when you are very confident about your opinion.
Examples:

Personally, I think technology is very useful.
-
In my opinion, students should study every day.
-
Personally, I don’t think homework is difficult.
-
I’m sure that online learning will grow in the future.
2. Agreeing
We use these expressions when we have the same opinion as another person.
-
Yes, I agree. → simple agreement.
-
You’re right. → you believe the other person is correct.
-
Exactly. → strong agreement.
-
I agree with you/him/her. → direct agreement with someone.
-
I think so, too. → you have the same opinion.
Example:
A: I think computers are important for students.
B: Yes, I agree.

3. Disagreeing
We use these expressions when we do not share the same opinion.
-
I’m sorry, but I don’t agree. → polite disagreement.
-
That’s probably true, but … → partial disagreement (you add another idea).
-
I’m not sure about that. → you are uncertain about the opinion.
-
I don’t think so. → simple disagreement.
Example:
A: I think students should not use the internet for homework.
B: I’m sorry, but I don’t agree.
