Present Simple
Usage:
- To talk about daily routines and habits.
- To talk about general truths or permanent situations.
Structure:
- Affirmative: Subject + base verb (add -s for he, she, it)
- I play football.
- She likes music.
- Negative: Subject + do/does + not + base verb
- I do not play football.
- He does not like music.
- Interrogative: Do/Does + subject + base verb?
- Do you play football?
- Does she like music?
Keywords: always, usually, often, sometimes, never
Present Continuous
Usage:
- To talk about actions happening now.
- To talk about planned future activities.
Structure:
- Affirmative: Subject + am/are/is + verb+ ing
- I am playing basketball now.
- She is reading a book.
- Negative: Subject + am/are/is + not + verb+ ing
- I am not playing basketball now.
- He is not watching TV.
- Interrogative: Am/Are/Is + subject + verb+ ing?
- Are you reading now?
- Is she playing football?
