The passage describes Malek's journey as he travels from his quiet countryside home to the bustling city of Barcelona, a place filled with noise, crowds, and excitement. He arrives at Plaça de Catalunya, where the scene is overwhelming compared to the peaceful pace of life he is accustomed to. Despite the efforts of his friends and family to discourage him from traveling alone, Malek had long dreamed of visiting Camp Nou, the famous football stadium, and now he was finally making it happen.

Malek proceeds to the underground station to catch the Green Line to Les Corts, where he plans to walk to the stadium. At the platform, he is surrounded by commuters rushing to catch their trains, which is a stark contrast to the calm pace he is used to. He struggles to navigate through the crowd, feeling out of place and wondering about the hectic lives of the people around him. He makes his way to a spot on the platform, but inadvertently blocks the way of others who are quickly moving past him. He feels like an outsider, lost in the fast-paced environment of the city.

Once on the train, Malek faces even more challenges. The carriage is packed with people, and he struggles to keep his balance as there are no handrails for support. He adapts, learning to stabilize himself with the movement of the train. As he looks around, most of the passengers are focused on their phones, either scrolling or listening to music. Malek notices an elderly couple sitting opposite him, reminding him of his grandparents back home. The old man catches his eye, and although Malek feels embarrassed for staring, the man nods at him politely. Malek nods back, feeling a slight blush on his face.

As the journey progresses, Malek grows more comfortable with the rhythm of the train. The train moves from station to station, with people getting on and off, creating a sense of routine. Three stops before Les Corts, the elderly couple gets ready to leave. They smile at Malek as they pass, and although he wants to say something friendly, he finds himself strangely lost for words. After they leave, Malek notices that the old man has forgotten his book on the seat. This moment of connection, despite his inability to speak, leaves Malek reflecting on the fleeting but meaningful encounter.
