Grammar

Nouns: countable and uncountable nouns with some/any/no

countable nouns:Nouns that can be counted as individual items.

Examples: apple, book, car, chair, pen.

We use countable nouns with:

Can use numbers: one apple, two apples. مع الارقام

Have singular and plural forms (apple/apples). مع اشكال الجمع والمفرد

Can be used with words like many, few, several. نستطيع استخدامها مع محددات المذكورة

Uncountable nouns: Nouns that cannot be counted as separate items.

Examples: water, sugar, milk, information, advice.

We use uncountable nouns with:

No plural form (you don’t say waters or informations ). لا يوجد شكل جمع (اي لا نضيف s (الجمع معها

Often substances, concepts, or qualities. غالبًا ما تكون مواد أو مفاهيم أو صفات

Can be used with words like much, little, some. تستخدم مع المحددات المذكورة

Countable & Uncountable Nouns with some/any/no:

1. Countable Nouns: things you can count individually: 1, 2, 3…

They have singular and plural forms:

Singular: apple, book, chair

Plural: apples, books, chairs

Using some / any / no with Countable Nouns

Word	Use	Example
some	Positive sentences, offers, requests	I have some books. / Would you like some apples?
any	Questions & negatives	Do you have any pens? / I don’t have any chairs.
no	Strong negative in positive sentences	There are no cars in the parking lot. / She has no friends here.

2. Uncountable Nouns : things you cannot count individually, e.g., water, sugar, milk.

They have no plural: water, milk, sugar, money

Using some / any / no with Uncountable Nouns

any	Questions & negatives	Is there any milk left? / There isn’t any juice in the fridge.
no	Strong negative in positive sentences	There is no coffee left. / He has no information about the meeting.

lettuce	A leafy green vegetable used in salads	خس	Today’s salad has lettuce and tomatoes.
milk	A white liquid produced by female mammals	حليب	She drinks milk every day.
pasta	A type of Italian food made from flour and water	مكرونة	Nader eats pasta for dinner.
potatoes	A type of vegetable that grows underground	بطاطس	Today I am making mashed potatoes.
Rice	A type of grain, often served as a side dish	أرز	I don’t eat rice much.
sandwich	Two pieces of bread with food in between	شطيرة	Lubna has a sandwich for lunch.
tomatoes	A red fruit, used in salads and cooking	طماطم	I put tomatoes in my salad.
water	A clear liquid that is essential for life	ماء	Drink more water every day.

sushi	A Japanese dish consisting of rice, vegetables, and often fish	سوشي	She loves Japanese sushi with tuna and spinach.
kefta	A dish made from minced meat, often shaped into balls or patties	كفتة	Today's dinner is beef kefta with tomatoes and lettuce.
snack	A small amount of food eaten between meals	وجبة خفيفة	I usually have a snack in the afternoon.
energy	The power that comes from food or drink to keep you active	طاقة	He needs to eat to have enough energy for his work.
usually	To do something regularly or habitually	عادةً	Lubna usually eats some eggs for breakfast.
really	Used for emphasis or to show that something is significant	حقًا، للغاية	At dinner, Nader is really hungry.
dinner	The main meal of the day, usually eaten in the evening	العشاء	I usually have dinner at 7 p.m.
lunch	A meal eaten in the middle of the day	الغداء	He doesn't eat lunch because it slows him down.
