  • Vocabulary: Rooms and Furniture

    Words describe common furniture and household items.

    Examples: armchair, bed, carpet, cooker, cupboard, fridge, microwave, mirror, shelf, shower, sofa, toilet, wardrobe, washing machine.

    Each word shows its use in the house (e.g., bed for sleeping, fridge for keeping food cold).

    Some items are for comfort (sofa, rug, fireplace), others for storage (cupboard, wardrobe), and others for cleaning (sink, dishwasher, washing machine).

    Prepositions of Place

    In → inside something. (The keys are in the drawer.)

    On → resting on a surface. (The book is on the table.)

    Under → below something. (The cat is under the bed.)

    Next to → beside something. (The lamp is next to the sofa.)

    Opposite → directly across. (The school is opposite the park.)

    Between → in the middle of two things. (The shop is between the bank and the library.)

    Behind → at the back of something. (The car is behind the building.)

    In front of → at the front, opposite of behind. (The bus is in front of the house.)
